How to Use Chakra Stones

Our bodies have a natural flow of energy that can have a profound effect on our lives. This energy moves through spiritual centers called chakras; each of which has its own purpose and location in our bodies. Sometimes stress or other factors can cause our chakras to become blocked, which can disrupt the energy flow and put us off-balance. This can result in emotional or physical problems. Chakra stones are helpful tools you can use to clear your chakras and regain balance.

1. Choose Your Stones

When using chakra stones, you can either choose to cleanse your entire system or focus on one chakra that you are having trouble with. Each type of stone has a different energy frequency and therefore has a different effect on your energy. Most are traditionally paired with a particular chakra they can positively influence. It is important to select your stones with this in mind.

2. Find a Quiet Place

The cleansing process involves a lot of focus, so you will need a place with few distractions. Find a place where you can lie down comfortably. A good option is to lay a yoga mat on the floor. This way, you’ll be physically grounded and lying flat, which is good for balancing the stones. Before you begin, make sure you place the stones within reach and can easily tell the identity of each stone. This makes it easier to pick up a new stone without disturbing the ones you’ve already placed.

3. Get Comfortable

Lie down. Make sure you are comfortable. If this means getting a blanket, pillow, or turning on a fan, do so. You don’t want to be distracted by physical sensations. During this process, it is important to focus on your spiritual energy.

To help you connect to your body’s energy, empty your mind. Try to sense the energy in each of your chakras. Think about how it feels—if it’s warm, electric, or undulating. If you are having trouble blocking out the external world, try some deep breathing or other meditative exercises to get you into the right frame of mind.

4. Lay the Stones

Once you feel aware of your energy, begin laying the stones. You can either start with the root chakra and work your way up or start with the crown chakra and work your way down.
Remember that there is no need to rush the process. As you place each stone, try to focus on the chakra it is paired with. Visualize the energy of the stone moving into and through the chakra.

5. Meditate

If you are clearing all of your chakras, spend some time meditating once all the stones have been placed. Visualize the energy flowing through each chakra in the direction you laid the stones. Continue this until you feel a sense of balance or rightness, or until the stones fall off your body.

6. Remove the Stones

When you’re ready, remove the stones in the same order you placed them. Before putting them away, be sure to clear them by blowing into them, washing them in cool or salt water, burying them, or exposing them to moonlight.

7. Spend Time in Contemplation

Before you re-enter the bustling outside world, spend some time in quiet contemplation. This can be as simple as writing in your journal, drinking a glass of water, or sitting and thinking about your experience. Try to imprint in your memory what this sense of balance feels like, so you are better able to recognize if your chakras are blocked in the future.

8. Use a New Intuitive Chakra Kit

Utilizing a chakra kit can be a great way to learn new readings and incorporate the act of chakra balancing. At SoulTopia, we have a new intuitive chakra kit that references both the Earth Star and Soul Star chakra, helping users learn more and guide them through different practices. Not only is it great for beginners, but spiritual individuals of all kinds.

A Beginner’s Guide to Tarot Cards

Many people are curious about tarot cards and with good reason. The tarot’s mysterious origins and occult ties have made many appearances in popular culture – sometimes accurately portrayed, sometimes not. And while the true story of the cards’ creation is unknown, there is evidence that they existed in some form in Egypt, China, and India. Their history is important to keep in mind; however, the tarot cards used today are less mystical talismans and more introspective guides.

The most important thing to understand about the tarot is that it is a personal tool. The cards can help you explore your goals and desires, connect with your spirituality, and examine your past choices. If you are new to the tarot, jumping straight in can be overwhelming. Remember that it is perfectly fine to go at your own pace. ― Here are a few steps you can take to get started on your journey.

1. Find a Deck You Resonate With

There are dozens of decks you can choose from, and the selection is continually growing. When considering each deck, here are a few things you should keep in mind:

  • Reverse Reading: Some decks are designed to be read differently when their cards appear reversed (upside-down). This means your readings may be more complicated, but can also provide increased flexibility. At SoulTopia, we say, if reading reversals makes sense for you take it. If reading reversals does not resonate with you, then leave it.
  • Minor Arcana: Of the 78 cards that usually make up a deck, 56 are designated as the Minor Arcana and are divided into four categories: cups, wands, swords, and pentacles (sometimes called “coins”). Some decks have illustrations for every card, while others simply portray the number and suit. Decide which approach you prefer.
  • Art: This may seem superficial, but the artwork is vital to your experience. Oftentimes, people find themselves initially drawn to the images. Since part of reading well means bonding with your deck, you should look for cards that you find beautiful and match your personal aesthetic.

Once you’ve decided on a deck, it’s time to get to know it.

2. Create Your Sacred Space

Reading the tarot is a lot like meditation. You want to be deeply connected to both yourself and the spiritual energies around you. To do this, veteran readers recommend creating a sacred space before you read.

If you use the tarot as part of your worship as many Pagans do, you can create a Sacred Circle or invoke the Goddess or Watchtowers. If you don’t adhere to a particular religion but still consider reading an important spiritual practice, you can light incense or arrange crystals to create a calming effect.

If you’re doing this just for fun, that’s fine too – put on some relaxing music or do some deep breathing exercises to help you get comfortable. A sacred space is about putting yourself in an open state of mind so you can ask effective tarot questions and consider all possibilities in a reading.

3. Read as Often as Possible

Try out different spreads. Consult books, but don’t feel restricted by their advice. As you read, you’ll notice patterns emerge and certain feelings about each card. Trust your intuition. The cards speak on a profoundly personal level, and you’ll understand their language better with each reading. A simple way to get in the habit of reading is to draw a card each day and think about how it relates to your current circumstances.

Many people carry citrine in their wallets or purses to attract financial abundance.

This striking bright green crystal is just as bold when used spiritually. The lime green color promotes confidence and power and is associated with abundance in general. This makes Peridot a great option when seeking out crystals to use with the intent of increasing your finances. Jade is a deep, unique shade of green that catches the light in its many layers. Its traditional Chinese meaning embarks a symbol of good luck, making it a great stone to keep around as you put in extra hours and effort at work. You can make sure your efforts pay off with the help of jade.

As it is also commonly found in jewelry, you can wear it regularly, keeping it close at all times, letting it attract cash wherever you go.

This shiny, metallic brass-toned stone is also known as Fool’s Gold as it has a passing resemblance to the precious metal. With its own benefits, including its association with good luck―especially regarding finances, Pyrite is believed to protect you from false and misleading information in business; in contrast to its name.

The Beginner’s Guide to Healing Crystals

Healing crystals are said to harness the power of the sun, the moon, and the Earth. Fans of these beautiful stones tout their holistic healing properties, created by the power of positive intentions. When we hold crystals or wear them close to our bodies, they amplify the good vibrations we put out into the world.

To get started on this personalized practice of well-being, here are the key steps one should take:

Understand Your Crystal

The first step in working with healing stones is to understand them as a whole. Crystals are very powerful and possess very strong capabilities. As humans are entropic, the power held within the crystal flows through to the human when the two are in connection. When you look at your crystals, you will be reminded of your connection to the universe and its infinite powers. Understanding and accepting the abilities of your crystal is a vital aspect of the process.

Choosing the Right Crystal

Although it can be easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices when it comes to healing crystals, trust your intuition and choose the stone you feel a natural attraction and connection to.

The shape of a crystal can impact your overall experience when working with that particular stone. You can choose natural, rough stones or polished versions that are easy to carry or wear. ― These are the properties of some of the most common healing crystal shapes:

  • Pointed crystal: Those who use healing stones use the pointed stone as a powerful tool to manifest and amplify intentions. This versatile choice is great for beginners as it has diverse uses and effectively radiates your energy into the universe.
  • Cube-shaped crystal: This grounding stone is useful to create a sense of calm and well-being. These are also used as protection stones, often by placing one in each of a room’s four corners.
  • Heart crystal: If you find a heart crystal, keep it close to your own heart. It will pick up your loving intentions.
  • Crystal spheres: These stones have a grounding effect because they’re sending equal energy in every direction. Many who use crystals find that the round shapes promote a sense of harmony.
  • Cylinder: To support meditation practice, try using two cylindrical crystals together. Known as a harmonizer, the pair is said to promote spiritual and emotional balance.
  • Pyramid crystal:  Used by ancient civilizations, this shape is renowned for its powerful manifestation properties. Try writing down your intentions and placing a pyramid crystal on top.

Cleansing Crystals

Selenite and Quartz are cleansing crystals, which are known to clear out energies through exposure. As crystals hold so much power, over time, they can become overloaded with energy. While some people believe it is important to cleanse your crystals, it is not a necessary step for a successful conveyance of capabilities. Crystals are very powerful objects and possess the ability to withhold an overload of energy. It is not required for humans to clean crystals to better endure their strengths.

SuperHero Crystals and Their SuperPowers

Beautiful Souls,

Many people come into SoulTopia and want either “high ascension” crystals or “synergy crystals.” Here are a FEW of my thoughts on the subject. These thoughts are in no way meant to be all-inclusive on the subject:

-What might serve as a high ascension crystal to one person, might totally ground someone else.  You see, people are different and respond to crystals in different ways.

-Many crystals get labeled by authors as high ascension crystals. Then people all latch onto that crystal. Sometimes it drives the price up with certain sellers when the crystal may actually be readily available (think Moldavite). Make sure it is a crystal YOU really connect with as opposed to what others tell you.

– Synergy crystals are crystals that work “in sync.” While some may work more in sync than others, it depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your crystals. ALL crystals can, and do, work together in different scenarios. So just because someone calls it a synergy crystal doesn’t make it “better” than other crystals. A clear, crystal quartz is actually great for getting crystals in sync. A grid also works in the same way.

– Yes, there are crystals that vibrate at a higher frequency. But just remember that a gentle, slow-acting rose quartz may at times be better suited for your needs.

With that said, here are some SuperHero Crystals that carry SuperPowers for connecting to your transpersonal chakras. (All will be called Crystals; although, some are not technically crystal but either tektites, meteorites or stones).

1. Libyan Gold Tektite “The Desert Gold Crystal” connects your solar plexus power self with your higher self aiding you in all psychic abilities and matters of connecting to All that Is.

2. Auralite 23 “The Cover All the Bases Crystal” was first said to contain 23 minerals, but up to 31 have actually been found included. It is good for many things and will help you ascend while keeping you tethered to earth with its red rock.

3. Prehnite “The Healer’s Inner-Knowing Crystal” helps healers and those healing themselves to tune into the underlying cause of dis-ease and get to the root of a matter. It also will help with the heart chakra.

4. Covellite “The Transformation Crystal” is a journey into all realms, dimensions, planes and times. It is more of an inner looking journey into the self.

5. Shamanic Quartz “The Journey Crystal” is a journey into all realms, dimensions, and times. It is more of an outward looking journey of the self.

6. Lavender Jade “The Peace Crystal” is all about bringing in peace. It also gently assists in healing past traumas and deep-rooted pain.

7. Nuummite “The Magick Crystal” is also known as The Sorcerer Stone. It unlocks your personal magick and protects you from those that would use their gifts to intend harm.

8. Astrophyllite “The Lightning Bolt Crystal” is like a zap of energy that alerts you to powerful connections and is an attractor of opportunities.

9. Super Seven “The Power Crystal” is made up of Smokey Quartz, Amethyst, Rutile, Cacoxenite, Clear Quartz, Geothite, Lepidocrocite and connects all the chakras including some transpersonal ones.

10. Selenite “The Sage Crystal” can be used in lieu of sage as it clears energy and other stones. Use it just like you would a smudge stick. It also will help with sleep.

11. Apophyllite “The Akashic Crystal” is a stone that carries the Akashic Records and enhances clear sight. It helps you connect to your higher self.

12. Herkimer Diamond “The Connector Crystal” connects all other stones and helps with ascension.

13. Kyanite  “The Clearer Crystal” is the go to crystal (along with selenite) for clearing and sweeping out all negative energy  like a broom. It also helps you connect to your guides.

14. Petalite “The Repellant Crystal” repels negative energies allowing you to attune to your true soul’s path and purpose.

15. Phenacite “The Multi-Dimensional Crystal” allows you to see beyond this

3D plane while still being clear on the actions that must take place to make visions become 3D realities. Brazilian Phenacite is like carrying your personal fairy in your pocket.

16. Moldavite “The Outta This World Crystal” encases stardust and many elements not readily accessible on Earth. Moldavite quickly helps us connect to our transpersonal (non-physical chakras.

Minding our own energy!

Beautiful Souls,

Let’s discuss the phrase…”be responsible for the energy that you bring.” It’s such a simple little phrase, yet so important.

I propose that we stop accusing others of having negative or low vibrations. Instead let us begin at the starting point: “Minding our own energy!”

In fact, I kind of like the phrase…”mind your own energy.” Let’s get our own houses clean before we start accusing others (or even Mercury Retrograde).
– Let’s start from a place of love.
– Let’s start from a place of light.
– Let’s begin with crystals to enhance our joy and vitality such as citrine and carnelian.

Light and love as beginning points really do drive out the need to always talk about negative and low vibes. I think we will all be amazed at how much more joy we manifest in our lives.
Begin with the energy you bring. “Mind your own energy.”

Crystal Cheers,

Valentine’s Day Crystal Boxes!

Beautiful Souls,

Valentine’s Day Crystal Boxes! The perfect gift for Valentine’s Day

After all…life is like a box of crystals according to Forrest Gump…well close enough…
1. Go to the dollar store or wherever you can find cute, affordable boxes. Pick out the size you want…I think the small ones with three spaces are really cute.
2. Eat the chocolate…after all, you should never be wasteful and chocolate is good for grounding so that’s a plus…

God Doesn’t Work that Way

Beautiful Souls,

I remember sitting in a mega-church in Plano about 13 years ago and hearing the pastor stand at the podium and tell about 5,000 + people on a Sunday morning that they better not mess up their witness or God would sit them on the bench (he loved to use sports analogies). God would sideline them…take them out of the game. Well…I was in a bad place in my life. The words sunk in…God can’t and won’t use me. I felt worthless and hopeless. Just to be sure I heard him correctly I got the tape from the bookstore…yeah…God was going to bench you if you messed up your witness. This pastor was very clear.

Well I want people to know that God does not work that way. He works through the most unlikely of people. People that are not perfect. People that have messed up. People that have gone through and even created shit-storms in their lives.

Those are the very people that can best help others. Those are the very people that can best understand the heartache of others. Those are the very people that are willing to get in the trenches with others. Those are the very people that God calls off the bench and sends into this messy, human experience to rally the team. God wants us as we are…not a phony version of what we think we should be to impress the masses. Just pure, raw, authentic and yes…often broken.

Beautiful souls,

We all have a purpose. The greeter at Walmart may have chosen to incarnate here just to make everyone’s day a little brighter and diffuse tensions on earth. This star seed may have chosen that as his soul purpose. It is no less or no more important than the one that owns Walmart. It is simply a different contract. Join me in striving to never be a respecter of persons but an encourager of all.

We are all one. We are all here to help one another walk through this human experience. We should never look down on another. We should always look to raise one another up or reach for another’s hand when we are in need.

Nom nobis solum nati sumus…Not for ourselves alone are we born. – Cicero
