Crystal Advent Calendar

Beautiful Souls,

I always have enjoyed Advent Calendars counting down the days to Christmas. I loved the excitement of opening the little door and seeing what chocolate there was for that day. I must admit that sometimes I would open a couple because I wanted the chocolate and I also was excited for the big day.

There is so much candy and food between Thanksgiving and New Years that we at SoulTopia have decided to use crystals…of course!

This is a great chance for creativity and a fun project with your kids. Grab some little brown envelopes or little boxes at the office supply store or craft store and decorate them. If you use envelopes, you can pin them to a board with push pins or hang them from a cute string with clothes pins. If you use boxes, a really cute thing to do is stack them like a Christmas tree.

Now the really fun part!!! Come to SoulTopia and get 25 crystals, one for each day. Make this part a surprise for the kids (or adults!)
Now you are ready for your crystal countdown to the big day!

Divine Guidance Comes in Many Forms

Beautiful Souls,

Many people come to SoulTopia to receive “readings.” Most of those people ask, “What type of readings do you offer?” I used to run through a long list of ways that I received and delivered intuitive messages. Angel Messages, Oracle Card Readings, Tarot Readings, Crystal Readings, Charm Casting Readings, Spirit Readings, Psychometry Readings, Clairvoyant Readings, Clairaudient Readings, All the Clairs, Clair-Blend, Ribbon Readings, Tea Leaf Readings, Fairy Readings…you get my point. Each time I always thought, “what is the point of all of this labeling?”

I have finally after much contemplation come to the point where I answer, “I deliver intuitive messages.” You see, it really does not matter how a reader receives a message as long as you resonate with the message they are delivering. The tool is not the message. It is merely a tool. Just as a guide is just that…a guide. A reader may use cards, astrology, crystals, sticks, stones or bones to help divine a message. They may use no divination tool at all. They may hold your hands or not take your hands. They may close their eyes or not. The label given the form of divination is only helpful in that it lets you know what tool(s) the reader is or is not using. I encourage us all to begin asking the more important question: does my vibration match, resonate and jive with that of the reader? The messages will come – no matter the tool or lack thereof. It is the messenger that is the conduit and vehicle to Divine, Source, All that Is.

Retrograde Traffic Jam

Between April 9th and April 15th, four planets will be retrograde simultaneously causing a retrograde traffic jam of sorts. In the midst of this, the Pink Full Moon falls on April 11th. Many consider retrograde periods to be “oh @#$!” time periods. But a retrograde planet is not necessarily something to dread. It can be an opportunity to pause, reflect, and course correct if needed.

While Mercury Retrograde garners most of the attention because it happens several times a year, other planets go retrograde too. From April 9th to April 15th, four planets will be retrograde. So what does this mean for us? First, what is the meaning of retrograde? Retrograde in this case is the apparent backward motion of a certain planet through the sky, as observed from Earth. This apparent retrograde motion is caused by the Earth traveling past a slower-moving planet or the Earth is itself being passed by a faster-moving inner planet. The perspective is important because we view things from an earthly perspective.

Pink Full Moon (or Easter Moon)

April 11th

Any full moon is a time to RE-lease that which does not serve you. They are times of RE-birth as is the Pink Moon specifically. During this Pink Full Moon it is a perfect time to RE-fresh, RE-generate and purify your intentions.

Crystal for the Pink Full Moon: Moss Agate

Jupiter Retrograde in Libra: February 6th – June 9th

Jupiter is the planet of good fortune and progress. Jupiter fosters positive growth and helps us get on our best path. Success, accomplishments, and prosperity are all associated with Jupiter. Jupiter is a large and slow moving planet. Where Mercury goes retrograde about three times per year for 19 to 24 days at a time, Jupiter spends 120 days in its single, annual retrograde.

When Jupiter goes retrograde, it is a good time to RE-view our vision, ideals, and belief systems.

Jupiter Rx Crystals:

Green aventurine, Citrine, Tiger’s eye, Amazonite

Saturn Retrograde in Sagittarius: April 6th – August, 25th

Saturn is the Lord of Karma. Retrograde motion is a time when karma is sorted out. Therefore, Saturn Retrograde is a double dose of karma.  With Saturn is in retrograde motion, the karma will relate to how responsible you have been in the past. Karmic balance is found as karmic debts are RE-paid. Through this retrograde period, everyone can move on toward emotional happiness and successful relationships for the future.

When Saturn goes retrograde, it is time to maintain the status quo in your career and not break new ground in your life if possible.

Check your karma! Mind your own energy!

Saturn Rx Crystals:

Rhodochrosite, Lapis Lazuli, Amazonite

Mercury Retrograde in Taurus: April 9th – May 3rd

Mercury governs communication and travel. When Mercury goes retrograde, it is a good time to meditate, contemplate, write and catch up on sleep. Since Mercury rules communication be extra aware of what you say when you speak to friends and colleagues. Things can get very twisted in texts and in emails. It is a good time to communicate directly. It is also a good time to delay signing or entering into any legal or binding contracts. Computers, televisions and cars also tend to stop working properly during this time.

EVERY “RE” THAT INVOLVES CONTEMPLATION and PAUSING APPLIES HERE.

Mercury Rx Crystals:

Hematite, Amazonite, Aquamarine, Fluorite

Venus Retrograde in Aries and Pisces: March 4th – April 15th

The good news? Venus Retrograde has the shortest duration of all planets that go retrograde so the “madness” won’t last long. Venus is about love and relationships. When Venus goes retrograde it is a time to RE-flect on your values, and to RE-view your relationships. Old friends and/or lovers may reenter your life. Consider carefully whether you want to dive back into that relationship. You might also want to avoid beginning a new love relationship. Remember this is the shortest retrograde period…patience…you can wait I promise!

Venus Rx Crystals:

Rhodochrosite, Rhodonite, Rose Quartz, Amethyst

In summary:

Between April 9-15th these four planets will be retrograde in conjunction with the Pink Full Moon on April 11th. Instead of “blaming it on retrograde,” let’s try “claiming RE.” What do I mean? Decide to assert your power to

RE-think, RE-assess, RE-evaluate, RE-examine and so forth, and primarily RE-claim your power. You intend and create what happens in your life.

Work with the universe to RE-imagine RE-trograde.

(Oh yeah…just when we think we are out of the celestial way, Pluto goes retro on April 20th, but we will deal with mysterious Pluto later).

Kali the Fierce Hindu Goddess

In anticipation of our March Madness: Shadow Side SoulTopia Sensation on Sunday, March 19th, it seemed fitting to talk about one of my favorite Goddesses, the fierce and mighty Kali.
It seems we often tend to want to make everything beautiful and tie it up with a love and light bow. But query me this…is life always so “perfect?” Are we possibly neglecting parts of ourselves if we always project that we have no struggles? Is there advantage in exploring our shadow side and is our shadow side always something “negative?” Many philosophers have broached this subject, which I believe is healthy, and many have come away with differing opinions, which I also believe is healthy. I encourage ALL of us to get back to the spirit of mature and robust discussions to help us grow. Do we have to agree? I honestly hope we don’t always agree. “Group think” is quite different than universal consciousness…think about that one. So with that out of the way, let’s get back to KALI.

Kali is a fierce Hindu Goddess that can actually be scary to some. She doesn’t try to be beautiful to make you feel comfortable with her. You see, she is about FEAR. Yes, again, sorry if that isn’t “positive talk” enough for you. But let’s not sugar coat it. She may scare those who don’t understand her and even some who do. But for those who attempt to understand her, she will help them overcome fears and work through things that are not healthy for them such as anger and jealousy. This shadow work will bring about a healthier self by cutting through obstacles and also slaying personal demons. This is not work for the faint of heart, but it is heart healing. When Kali enters your life you will experience necessary change. She can help you detach from people, go your own way, change jobs or help with any other tough transition. She carries a weapon in one hand, but the other hand is empty in order to reach out and help. One of my FAVORITE things about the fierce and mighty Kali is that she is the Goddess of Victims of Domestic Violence. Thank Kali for that!

The crystals that were given to me as I channeled the SoulKali bracelet for the SoulGoddess line were (all are highly recommended for your crystal collection):

Black Tourmaline – This HIGHLY protective stone is a must for your crystal collection. It absorbs, deflects and transmutes negative energy. It acts as a shield from psychic attacks, negative thoughts from others and all negative energy. Black Tourmaline (Schorl) might just be Kali in crystal form!

Smoky Quartz – Another highly protective stone, but also one of the most grounding stones. It helps us feel safe and secure. It helps with fear, depression, addictions and obsessions. Smoky Quartz completes the circuit between us and nature. It transmutes negativity sending it back to Mother Earth where it is recycled for good.

Garnet – A stone for those who have suffered trauma and any type of abuse. Garnet helps one feel safe, secure and helps alleviate worry, fear, and panic bringing a sense of calm and groundedness. It also aids in working through disruptions within the family and home.

Labradorite – A stone of magic. A true magician wants power only over himself (self-mastery) and has no desire to control or abuse others. It also clears the aura of negative energy and psychic attacks.

Holiday Crystal Cheers

As we enter the holiday season filled with warm lights and cheerful festivity, we also acknowledge these may be challenging times for many. We may be barraged with feelings from a different time in our lives. This nostalgia is often bittersweet. The holidays trigger many thoughts and emotions. Hopefully, they are pleasant and happy reminiscences. Unfortunately, for some the memories are of experiences that brought disappointment and sadness. This holiday season we pray for love, peace, and glad tidings for all.

Crystals are beautiful energetic beings that help bring us cheer on our holiday journey. Below is a list of common stressors many of us experience during the holiday season and the crystals we can implement to help support us in a positive way.

Making Preparations – As we enter the holiday season we have a list as long as Santa’s beard of things that we may feel pressed to accomplish…sending cards, decorating, gift buying, cooking and traveling…you get the idea. Crystals for energy and vitality such as Carnelian, Red Calcite, Red Jasper, and Fire Agate are great energy boosters. Red Calcite not only increases energy, it uplifts emotions and increases willpower. To alleviate any accompanying stress, Amethyst, Lepidolite, Lithium Quartz, Black Tourmaline, Rhodochrosite, Rhodonite, and Topaz are excellent. Lepidolite is natural lithium and the perfect stone for stress and anxiety.

Controlling Spending – The holidays are a great time of giving joyfully to others in our lives. However sometimes the holidays become commercialized and materialized, and we may find ourselves stretching our budget thin. Crystals that help us watch our spending and stay grounded can prove beneficial. Amethyst, Chalcedony, Galena, Green Tourmaline, Onyx, Red Calcite, Smokey Quartz, and Spirit Quartz help with grounding and self-control. Onyx is the go-to stone for self-control and self-mastery.

Focusing and Calming Racing Minds– Give yourself the gift of focused attention by working with Carnelian, Clear Quartz, Fluorite and Hematite. Hematite is a grounding stone that also calms the mind and helps us stay focused on the task at hand. Fluorite focuses the mind and creates order out of potential chaos.

Asking for Help – Sometimes letting others know you need assistance with preparations can relieve undue pressure. If you have trouble asking for help, reach for a blue gemstone such as Sodalite.  Sodalite will help you calmly “speak your truth,” before frustration enters the picture.

Traveling Safely – As the actual day of the holiday approaches, many of us find ourselves traveling by road, air or perhaps even taking a cruise. Malachite, Moonstone, and Turquoise are all crystals for safe and comfortable travel. Aquamarine is well known for safety at sea. Work with Malachite to connect with Archangel Raphael, the Patron Angel of Travel.

Alleviating Homesickness – Many people find themselves unable to physically be with their loved ones during the holidays. Amethyst and Cerussite help with homesickness by helping us enjoy our present circumstances.

Eating Healthy – The potential for overeating during the holidays is a very real issue. Work functions and holiday parties may be a true concern for many that struggle in this area. Angelite, Apatite, Astrophyllite, Citrine, Clear Calcite, Garnet, Green Aventurine, Red Calcite, Red Jasper, Rhodonite, Ruby, Shungite, Sunstone, and Unakite all help with various issues involved in healthy eating. Apatite boosts metabolism and helps control cravings while Shungite is perfect for cleansing.

Inviting Harmony – The holidays bring together friends and family. Harmony amongst those gathering together is of paramount concern.  Brown Tourmaline (Dravide), Citrine, Fuchsite, Tiger Iron, and Spirit Quartz are all excellent crystals for relationships and harmony.  Tiger Iron is a combination of Hematite, Jasper, and Tiger’s Eye.  It is especially helpful for bringing about harmony during family interactions.

Overcoming Grief – There is no doubt that days that are meant to be joyful may bring great sadness and even grief to those that have suffered loss or abandonment. Apache Tear and Yellow Calcite combine beautifully to soothe sadness, grief and loneliness.

Diamonds! Not Quite a Girl’s Best Friend!

Beautiful Souls,

Maybe diamonds are not the best for engagement and wedding rings!
You read that right!. Not only did slick marketing by DeBeers get us all wearing them, they may actually hurt our relationships. Many millennials are now asserting their individuality and choosing different stones.

Did you know diamonds weren’t always considered a jewel? When this carbon substance was first discovered thousands of years ago in India, it was used as decorations and as talismans to keep away evil spirits and cure diseases. (Yes, that’s right! So those of you that think we crystal lovers are sinful, you might want to check yourself and your left finger because you are wearing what is known as a crystal…oh the horror. Initially Christians considered them evil until a bishop ordained it acceptable to adopt the pagan custom).

It was only about a thousand years ago that diamonds were used as jewelry for the first time. Four hundred years later, Archduke Maximilian of Austria asked Mary of Burgundy to be his wife by proposing with a diamond. While this was the first documented case of a diamond engagement ring, it is by no means the first engagement ring. The tradition has roots that date back to ancient Egypt when reed rings were placed on one another’s ring finger to symbolize their betrothal. The ring finger was chosen because it was believed there was a vein in that finger that was connected directly to the heart, symbolizing eternal love.

Why Diamonds?
The first engagement rings were far less romantic than they are today. They were less a symbol of love and more a symbol of ownership. Diamonds (carbon) were the original gemstone used in an engagements ring, and once they were discovered in abundance in South Africa, they were marketed by the diamond company DeBeers as “The” engagement stone one should have.

Here’s the rub:
Diamonds are great conductors of energy, both physically and spiritually. They are said to amplify whatever energy the wearer is experiencing. This means that anyone depressed should not wear this stone. It also means that arguments are amplified.

Hmmmmm perhaps removing your wedding ring if it’s a diamond is not such a bad idea if you are struggling to get along.
